About Us

Investing in New Zealanders' futures

DBR is a privately owned and operated New Zealand company, here to provide you with the financial assistance you need, to get ahead. We can help with everything from non-bank loans to first mortgage solutions - including bridging finance, development finance, subdivision finance, construction loans, low doc mortgages, new build finance - right through to debt consolidations and bank rescues.

We understand how important it is to find a trustworthy finance company solution when you need it.  You want to deal with people who have real testimonials from real borrowers.  You want a competitive interest rate and a quick, tailored solution.

So why should you choose DBR over other finance companies? For a start, we’re known in the industry for being fair and continually leading the market to lower non-bank finance interest rates and fees. We can also promise you three things: 1) We’ll work with you in partnership, to fully meet your needs 2) we’ll provide a competitive interest rate and fee and 3) we’ll always treat you fairly.

Our background

The owners of DBR are Darryl Eastgate and Brett Lornie. They were previously 46% shareholders in North South Finance, which they (with others) established in 2001. They then sold the business in 2006 to a public company.  Darryl and Brett established DBR and now have Geoff Allen (ex North South), once again working along side them. Well-respected finance company executive Laura Gregory has also since joined them.

Here at DBR our people are known throughout New Zealand for their honest and direct approach to finance company development loans, construction loans and bridging finance

We’re also second-to-none for fast, friendly approvals. Our loan offers have competitive interest rates and fees. Conditions to obtain drawdown are easy to understand and achieve. Loan offers don’t have hidden catches or fine print. And during the loan term, you’ll be treated fairly and with a high level of professionalism.

DBR is funded from $15m of cash equity plus a $56m ASB Bank facility. Who we are, how we operate, and how we’re funded is transparent, making it easy for you to assess and understand.

When you want to talk, we’re directly available. No call centre hold ups – just the people you’ll actually be dealing with. Which means the owners and staff of DBR are in plain view for you to assess and decide who you want to borrow your money from.  You’re also welcome to visit us at our offices: 5 The Parade, Bucklands Beach & 22 Tennyson Avenue, Takapuna

How do you know you're choosing the right finance company?

You should be asking the company some questions on their history. Things like: Who are the owners? How many mortgagee sales have they conducted since they’ve been operating? Can they provide you with some testimonials and contact details for past clients? At DBR, we know we’re only as good as our clients say we are.

To help you make your decision, we can tell you that we believe each customer needs a short to medium-term solution to get them from one place to another. Whether it’s to build that spec house, complete a subdivision, buy that dream home, establish a new business or inject capital into a growing business - we’ll do everything within our power to develop these solutions, and quickly  turn your plans into reality.

How does the process work?

We’ll meet you at your place if that’s what suits. Our first task will be to best understand who you are, and exactly what you need. There are no long-winded forms to complete, because we’re lending our own money - so when you deal with us you deal directly with the decision-makers.

No circumstance is out of the question - if you need options for low doc loans, non-bank mortgages, bridging finance, construction finance, development finance, new build finance, debt consolidations or a bank rescue, we’re ready to discuss your plans.
